“Dexter” AVIII-600I

Bruker-600IDexter is a Bruker Instruments AVIII-600 Avance console, 14.1 T standard bore magnet NMR spectrometer. This instrument is equipped with a cryogenic probe.

Console Capabilities

The console of dexter is equipped with 4 channels and 4 amplifiers. The four channels are capable of generating hard and shaped pulses over any nucleus. The four amplifiers consist of three linear amps covering the x-nucleus frequencies up to thalium and a cluster of three amps for proton/fluorine.

The console also has Accustar II gradient amplifiers which are extremely linear, providing up to 50 g/cm for the gradients in the spectroscopy probe.

The controlling computer is HP linux (Centos 5.5). The combination of console and computer should be capable of executing any desired multi-dimensional experiment, with the only limits being the type of nuclei observed.

Dexter is also equipped with an automated sample changer that can accommodate boxes of 96 samples in 5 mm, 3 mm, or 1.7 mm tubes, or up to 46 individual samples in spinners on the outer ring. It is still possible to load samples in manual mode, however, this procedure requires users to be first trained and approved by NMRFAM staff.

Available Probes

  • 5 mm z-axis pulsed field gradient triple resonance Cold probe (1H{13C,15N,31P, 2D})
  • 5 mm TXI, cryoprobe

Cost

The base rate for time on this machine is $8.00/hour for publishable work and $250/hour for proprietary work.
